After 25+ years working with some of the world’s most recognized brands—Nestlé, Clorox, Del Monte, Pizza Hut—I saw a gap.
Small businesses were being left behind, told to “figure out marketing” on their own or overspend on agencies that didn’t understand their realities. Startups, meanwhile, often had scrappy early traction but struggled to turn it into a clear, investor-ready growth story.
That’s why I started Cultivate: Growth Marketing: to bring proven strategy, smart execution, and a partner-first mindset to growing businesses—whether you’re winning your first round of funding or building a stronger small business foundation—without the overwhelm or inflated costs.

Meet Sally Slate — Founder & Chief Grower
With more than 25 years of marketing experience, I’ve seen firsthand how businesses of all sizes—whether small, mid-sized, or early-stage startups—can flourish when given the right tools and strategy. My career began inside Fortune 500 brands at top ad agencies, where I worked on names like Nestlé, Clorox, and Pizza Hut. Along the way, I learned what drives growth at the highest levels.
But my true passion has always been growth-stage businesses—the builders, makers, and doers turning ideas into impact. I’ve launched and grown companies of my own, which means I understand the late nights, the tough calls, and the big dreams that come with entrepreneurship. That’s why I started Cultivate: to be a trusted marketing partner who helps founders and owners move forward with clarity, confidence, and less stress.
A proud graduate of Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, I carry the school’s “Learn by Doing” spirit into every client relationship. When I’m not crafting growth strategies, you’ll usually find me on a trail with friends, playing with my dog Cassie, or visiting my son at Montana State University — Go Bobcats!
